Books and Cozy Chaos

Snarky Snippets

It’s been a minute, but I still have that damn book-like thing that I’ve been taking a LOOOOOOOOOONG hiatus from writing lurking in the background. Seeing as life is life-ing, this is one thing that I can let go as needed to clear the bench for more time sensitive endeavors. But I haven’t forgotten it yet, dusty on the highest shelf (figuratively) as it may be.

So, in the interest of still sharing bits of it, here is an excerpt. One that I like the conversation in. I am not sure if I will continue to share whole chapters, but instead switch to snippets probably from now on. Until it is finished. I’m still holding out that I will finish it someday. My problem is that I have a lot of ideas, but not the burning flames to get them finished. I also know that my long-form writing skills need some work, so it takes me a while to get into things and feel like they are even any good. Already I’ve gone back over what I’ve written already and am starting to make edits and changes.

Anyways… here’s a peek at Drake and Jane. And Jane being a bit snarky and moody.

“How is all of this going to work once school starts up again? I mean, at least for now we’re in the same state, but are we just going back to text messages come fall?”

Drake laughs, loudly, his whole body shaking and vibrating against mine as I stay tucked in his arms. Glaring, I smack his chest. “That is not funny, I’m serious.”

“I know you are baby. Leave it to you to jump a hundred steps ahead when we’ve barely begun walking. Let’s take this one day at a time. Don’t borrow tomorrow’s worries. Once it gets closer to you having to leave for Washington, we’ll figure something out.” He tucks a strand of hair behind my ear and taps the side of my glasses. “You don’t always have to overthink things.”

“But overthinking is my superpower. I’m so good at it,” I mutter.
