Books and Cozy Chaos

Workplace Dominance

I should have known to expect a hefty dose of emotional turmoil in an Adriana Anders book. It may look all cute and rom-com on the surface, but just beneath the humor and the grumpy/sunshine workplace banter is a depth of self discovery and realization of boundaries and how to learn how to say “no.” But, also how to say “yes” when the right time (and person) come along.

We get Grant and Rae and a whole meet cute in a kink speed dating event. And the next day we get a less cute meeting when Rae finds out that Grant is a consultant at her job, bringing on a whole new set of rules and a whole lot of tension to their shared office space. Their mutual chemistry definitely makes it difficult to focus… on their jobs. Their outside life. Their shared interests.

Dom Com is a workplace romance full of colorful characters, chaotic family, grumpy men who absolutely refuse to let that strange ache in their chest mean anything more than possible heartburn and a Rae of sunshine that hasn’t quite yet figured out that she does not have to give everything to everyone else and save nothing for herself.

I enjoyed every moment of this book. I didn’t even get mad at the third-act breakup because it fit so well with the story arc. And Grant and Rae? Ooof, hot and funny and so damn perfect for each other.

I read this book early as an ARC from Netgalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own. Book is out now.
