Books and Cozy Chaos

Memories of May

May was a good month for reading. There were a few books that missed the mark for me, but overall I had some fun and also read a couple of amazing ARCs (which I have reviews for going up this week).

The first Ali Hazelwood book I read was Bride. These are books 2 and 3 of hers that I have read. Each on gets better and better. The banter and the emotion and the communication (*swoon*) and the MMCs that are just. down. so. bad. Love it (and them)!

Apparently I had no quotes highlighted for The Nanny is Off Limits, but it is on the list of faves from Q.B. Tyler, the queen of taboo. The only one out of these 4 that I had an issue with was The Perfect Fit. The betrayal and (IMO) too short of a grovel did not work.

I will love Olivie Blake’s writing forever. And the Atlas Complex is no exception in the writing department for me. My issue was that this series felt overlong for the outcome that we ended up with.

I listed to The Beauty of the End as an audiobook. Decent narrator, the story just… did not work. The book wanted to be too many things at once, so nothing was done well and everything felt half-realized.

And as for Jade West, I’m beginning to think that I don’t love the way she creates characters. The plot and the ideas and the smut (oh, the smut) are there, but I never really LIKE any of the MMCs/FMCs.
