Berry Cobbler

Memories of childhood are built on tastes and smells. Things that bring back comfort and safety (for me). Blackberry cobbler was always something from growing up that was special. We really only got it during blackberry season, when my neighbors and I could pick enough berries for my mom to be able to make some. Better than pie, it would be devoured warm out of the oven. Even better if there was vanilla ice cream to go with it.

Last Christmas when I was home, my mom made a big batch of cobbler for a party. She used a recipe that had been from her work, with handwritten measurement adjustments for a crowd that was decidedly smaller than a couple hundred kids being served from a cafeteria kitchen.

For myself, I made a few more measurement adjustments to make my own version recently, I didn’t have blackberries, but mixed frozen berries. Honestly, this would work with any fruit. And it tastes just as good cold out of the fridge the next day.
