If you are in the Central Coast region of California, there are two places I recommend checking out.
Spare Time Books is in downtown Paso Robles. It is a used bookstore, and I first found out about them via social media and YouTube. It is currently own by two friends, and you can follow their work on renovating the space. The shop itself is adorable, and so full of books that you can spend hours browsing. They have some new books as well, but the bulk are used. There are also a ton of cute book accessories.

The other place I found was in Morro Bay, a place my mom and I go to every time (or at least try to) I go home to visit. Scout Coffee is in an old bank building, and has tons of indoor and outdoor space. The coffee and pastries are great, and for the three days we were in town, I went every morning.

And to add a few more (that are mainstays when we go to the coast):
- Brown Butter Cookie Company (they have shops in Cayucous, Paso Robles, and San Luis Obispo)
- Avila Valley Barn has produce, foodstuffs, petting zoo, and olallieberry pies and jam (the whole reason to go, IMO).
