Choosing between two opposites is something that we often have to do. And most of us, if it came down to it, would be a mix or choose a mix of what is offered as an option.
In the bookish world, “this or that” posts are common. Below is a list that I came up with, and only one of the pairs is something that I could honestly choose both of.

For me, I would answer like this:
- Read multiple books at once (I often have 1-2 ebooks, a physical book, and an audiobook going at the same time).
- Carry a Kindle (or reading app) with me. I have apps on my phone, iPad, and even a Kindle itself that I carry at least one of at all times. If I have time waiting for something, I’m usually one one of them reading.
- Morning AND evening reader. This is the one where I am both. Really, I’m all all day reader. Whenever I have a chance, I’m reading.
- Re-reads books. All the time. I have favorites that I’ve read at least a dozen times. It’s like comfort food. You know what you get, and it makes you happy. I often re-read after a particularly heavy book, or when nothing new is tickling my mood-reader brain.
- No notes… mostly. I do like a good Kindle highlight, but other than that, I don’t annotate. I love the aesthetic of it, but I don’t have the patience.
- I usually switch between series. I’ll read one or two books of one, and then need a break before moving on. If I read it all at once, it just becomes one amorphous blob in my head and I can get burnt out.
- I need a resolution. There can be “unresolved” stuff, but I prefer books that have some sort of conclusion at each end, even in an ongoing series. I mean, so many books are cliffhangers, and I still read them, but it’s not my favorite.
Where do you fall on these choices?
