Books and Cozy Chaos

June Books

A little late with the June books. Stuff happened. Such is life. Although life could do with calming down a bit on my end, thankyouverymuch.

There were a lot of novellas this month. I’ve been in not quite a slump, but just not sure I wanted to commit to anything super long. Four of the above 6 books were novella-length.

This was also an ARC month. I had quite a few ARCs that I forgot were all coming out around the end of August, so I had to start digging in. They will all get longer review posts here closer to publication day, but The Third Wife of Faraday House was the standout of these three.

I also solidified my love for Cleo White and her age-gap stories. They always hit, and You’re It was just so damn good. My favorite of hers by far.

My audiobook habit tends to lean toward listening to books I’ve already read (especially romance ones). The Berries & Greed audiobook made me love that cinnamon roll monster even more than I already did. And I already loved him a lot. The narrators for this one hit it out of the park.

The only big miss for me this month was My Begrudging Scent Matches. This was an omegaverse that tried so hard to make the FMC independent, but only ended up with her being whiny and argumentative for the sake of it when the two MMCs were all in. It felt rushed and awkward and not even remotely spicy, despite having open-door scenes. It read as bland, with no real spark between the leads. IMO.
