Books and Cozy Chaos

Creating New Things

I admit that I am a dabbler. I like to try new things, play around for a bit, and then either continue with the new hobby, or forget about it for ages until I “rediscover” it again and start all over.

One of the first images I made, and still one of my favorites. It reminds me of home.

I like to create. Here, I do that with writing. Over on Instagram I do that with photos and images created for sharing books and things I love. And most recently, my Canva explorations have led me to playing around with layering their graphics into new images. Art, but one where my very limited skills can be put to use manipulating things into something new. Canva has been a great resource for me, not only for finding new ways to show off photos, but also in creating graphics and things for my social media stuff.

An ode to the fantasy worlds I love to read about. Trying my hand at more layers and images overlapping with this one.

There is no goal for creating these images. They are another outlet for me to get out ideas and energy. In my day job, I can do a bit of this in curriculum design and making slides and worksheets, but there is a limit to what I can put in there before it becomes less about the information and more about me trying things that have nothing to do with what I am teaching.

This one may be a little too busy, but I still love it. Steampunk is something that I love the aesthetic of, but don’t read/explore nearly enough.

I like having multiple outlets for creativity to explore, to have options. I get bored easily, so having a variety of things that I can turn to is good. And this is one of those things that I have now.

This one is so much more colorful than I am in my daily life. I do love a good alien planet image (all those years of watching science fiction TV shows and movies). Big, graphic pictures and surreal themes push me out of my comfort zone, and I love it.
