Sometimes, you just have to buy the book merch. One of the books I read as an ARC, Beyond the Aching Door, had a tie-in candle scent that I finally had a chance to get a hold of. I am nothing if not a candle person. I tend toward the pine/citrus scents, and things that smell like forest and campfire and nature.
I had already purchased a copy of the book for myself, and decided to get a signed bookplate and the candle as well.

The merch was sold through The Spiral Bookcase (a shop owned byt he author of the book in question). The candle was made by Woodland Magic. I highly recommend checking both of the business out, they have some very cool items (and I will be buying more candles in the future, for sure). The candle itself smells like campfires and forests, which ties in very much to the vibes of the book. I also got the aforementioned bookplate to stick in my book, and another sticker (because like candles, I also have a thing for stickers).
Part of the fun of buying from smaller independent business are the personal touches included, like little notecards. Opening this box was just fun, and I am really putting of actually burning the candle because I don’t want to melt the absolutely beautiful ouroboros design in the wax. I’ll just have to sniff it like a weird person instead, I guess. Or buy another one. Maybe both.
