First & Favorite (Romance)

Back for another round of “First vs. Favorite” books by some of my most read authors. These are all romance books, but from different niches within the genre.

QB Tyler is one of the “taboo romance” queens. Often her books are age-gap, and on top of that there are family friends/stepsiblings/some other thing to crank up the heat and the taboo nature of the romance. Always Been You is an age-gap/adopted siblings romance. Keep Her Safe is an age-gap bodyguard romance.

Emily McIntire writes darker, slow-burn romances with very morally gray characters where both the males and females have edges are darkness. Scarred was my first in the Never After series, and it remains my favorite. A play on the Lion King, where the girl ends up falling for the brother of the king.

Ana Huang’s Twisted series was a fun one to get through, and I started her catalogue with the first book in that series. My favorite from that run of books is Twisted Games, but my favorite of her so far overall is King of Wrath. I also HIGHLY recommend the duet audiobook for King of Wrath. It is elite and soooooo good.

Tal Bauer writes MM romance, usually with a thread of bi-awakening. And always full of angst and emotion. I have yet to read a bad one, but You & Me just hit all the right notes throughout the entire book.

If you like murderous psychopaths that end up being complete simps for their men, the Necessary Evils series is definitely for you. I started with book 1, Unhinged. I have red them all, and started some related series spin-offs (and in transparency, am member of the authors’ Patreon). But my favorite couple/book is Moonstruck, with Atticus and Jericho. There is something special about their relationship for me.

Emily Rath got super well-known over the last year for her hockey romance series with Pucking Around and Pucking Wild. And I love those books. But my first was her one-off omegaverse book Whiskey & Sin. And this book remains one of my favorite omegaverse books (and books by her) of all. Bear and Silas just stole a piece of my heart and I love them.
