Books and Cozy Chaos

Spotlight On… Devyn Sinclair

I do love a good omegaverse/why choose book. It has become a romance genre favorite of mine. And when they are done well, that’s even better. Devyn Sinclair does them well. Her omegaverse books can be considered on the “sweetverse” side (less darkness and angst), but are not just fluff. They have heart. They dig deep into emotions that I’m sure many of use have felt at one time. And they have guys that absolutely would move mountains to make their women happy.

I first found her Slate City series last year. All of the books are excellent. They each feature an FMC that is dealing with struggles both internal and external. In the case of Knot Your Damn Omega and Knot All that Glitters, a large part of the issue stems from family expectations. In all the books, the omega females are scent matched to their packs, and the books spend time with each member, building each relationship, and guiding us along as the FMC learns just how much she is worth and how much she is loved by her pack.

In her new series, the Clarity Coast books, our first entry gives us a new trio of women to follow. In the first book out, Endless, we get to meet Isolde and the St. James Pack. They meet as her escorts to a family event where she has to see her ex, whom she did not leave on great terms with. In this world, there is still scent matching (like “fated mates”), but it works differently for the omegas and the alphas in the pack. The guys know first, and have to show Isolde how much she matters to them without her yet knowing that they are hers. The drama comes form the ex, but never from within her pack. I can’t wait to see Ocean’s and Trinity’s books (the other two friends).

I think what I love most about these books is that they feel like you are being wrapped up in a big, warm hug. They are relatively low-angst. They still have plenty of spice and heat, but also bring up a lot of universal situations that involve emotional moments, communication, and realizing your worth. None of the guys in any of the books is anything less than devoted, and everything still feels important, even if it is only a brief moment of connection.
