Books and Cozy Chaos

To Share or Not to Share…

Do you share/post every book you read? Or are some only available for certain audiences to know? Generally, I am not ashamed to admit that I read just about everything, including *very* spicy smut/erotica. But sometimes those types of books (at least some specific genre tropes) I prefer to keep between myself and my Kindle.

I came up with this little chart on how I choose which level to share the books that I’m reading. Storygraph tends to get almost everything. Even the niche trope erotica. Or at least, most of it. There are still some books that don’t even end up there, usually because they aren’t worth recording at all (and usually end up being DNFs). I am all for indie smut, but I still want it to have at least a hint of storyline. Like, even a La Croix water flavor level whiff of story will work.

I tend to post the books that I loved and think everyone needs to know about to social media and Goodreads. I know books/reading is subjective in terms of how people like things, but the books that end up here are ones that I feel need to get out there to an audience, so they can be found by others that will like them as much as I do. Also, I do post all my ARC reviews (mainly because I did state that I would upon accepting them). I have shied away from posting the star ratings to social media recently, and focusing on the highlights and summary. If people want stars, they can go to my book app profiles. Honestly, even 3-star books for me are decent, they just didn’t hit all the right notes to be at the top. But a lot of books that I re-read as comfort books have a 3-star ratings. They are comfort fluff, if you will. Not a lot of substance, but still satisfying in their own way and a known commodity. Although star ratings are another post entirely. In fact, I’ve written about it here before in my What’s in a Rating post.
