We have made it to the end of another year. 2023, like 2022, was a year of reading for me. I’ll have a full 2023 summary in January, but for now, it’s just December being recapped.

I’ve been hitting my audiobook stride these last few months. I discovered the Murderbot Diaries via Audible Plus and made it through the four novellas in audio this month. They are some of my favorites this year (Kevin Free is the perfect narrator for Murderbot)! Also, I’m still on my journey of rereading books via audio (usually the spicy ones). The narrators for Give Me Peace were so good, and I remembered why I liked that book so much in the first place after listening to it this time.

A sneaky new favorite novella came in near the end of the month from my Storygraph recommendation page: Once More Upon a Time. It’s the “other side” of standard fairytales: What happens to the side characters? It was a fun take on a standard genre, and for a short book it held a lot of emotional weight and some great banter.
I’m not sure how I’ll do reading recaps in 2024, but I do know there will be some changes to them. I like having the stats, but I think I want to focus more on the books in the future. Maybe save the stats for a quarterly or mid/end of year recap.
How was your 2023 reading journey?
