When I read the book first, it was a decent omegaverse entry, with characters that I liked and a good-paced storyline. It wasn’t my absolute favorite, but it quickly became a “comfort book” that I could go back to easily (so I bought the ebook to keep). The book itself is available in Kindle Unlimited.
My book review: “Clove, Tieran, Volt, and Caius are a perennial re-read for me. It’s fated mates, omegaverse, and a little darkness. It tends to be a thing with Lexi Foss books to a degree, but Tieran here was a bit of a stubborn wolf (though not nearly as bad as Ander Cain in the X-Clan books). But the three guys worked well together, and Clove managed to hold her own, despite her being dropped into completely new circumstances.”
Nothing huge. However, I recently listed to it on audiobook, and it was SO GOOD in the audio format. The narrators were excellent. Kale Williams does a British accent for Tieran that is pure sex. I would listen to him read the dictionary in that accent. What made it so much better than expected (beyond that yummy voice) was the fact that it was DUET NARRATION. I really wish it were more feasible for this type of narration in all audiobooks. Each POV chapter was narrated by the respective voice, but all of the dialogue in every chapter was read by the voice for that character. So it sounds more like a play. And it draws you in that much more to the story.
Don’t get me wrong, there are narrators that are great at doing the male/female voice crossover and the books are good, but duet narration is something special. And for Carnage Island, it made it so much better. This may be one of my absolute favorite audiobooks, because of the narration alone.
