Books and Cozy Chaos

Indie Bookstore Shout-Out… Midtown Reader

For 5.5 years I lived in Tallahassee, FL while being a university professor. One of my favorite places there was the local indie bookstore Midtown Reader. It was tucked off of Thomasville Rd in an area full of local shops and eateries. It has a main floor and a small upstairs that has been filled with some form of food purveyor (while I lived there it was a cupcake shop for a bit). Right now, it is a place called the Piebrary (LOVE the pun).

The staff is always helpful, but not overbearing. I got some great suggestions the last time I was in town and visiting friends. We made sure to swing by (she knows I am very much a book person), and I managed to leave with three new books because of course, I did. The whole shop is cozy, but not stuffy. They have a wide selection of local interest topics and authors, as well as popular books and enough others to make browsing fun. I did not have a chance to try out the pie, but I love that they still have the space upstairs for food and hanging out. There is also space out front (they share the patio with the neighboring restaurant) to enjoy a book and some air.

If you are ever in Tallahassee, check out this local gem. It will not disappoint.

My Midtown Reader book haul.
