Mid-summer, turning your own love life into book tropes was a thing on Bookstagram. It was a cute way to take romance book tropes and make them your own. While I am currently unattached, I decided that taking part in the activity sounded like fun. So I did it using myself and my pup as the duo to label.
“Exactly what I wasn’t looking for” – I have always been a cat person over dogs (at least for myself). So I wasn’t looking to adopt a pup at all. But it happened anyway.
“Insta-love” and “Set-up by friends” – Honey pup was being fostered by some good friends in Memphis, and when I went over to visit their house one day, I couldn’t help but love the sweet pup that decided I was her person and would follow me around the house during the 4th of July party. She immediately decided that I was hers, and I couldn’t resist. I think my friends knew I would be a sucker for her sweet face.
“Obsessed ride-or-die” – This girl is velcro. She’s very attached (likely due to her being an abandoned rescue pup), and really does not like it when I leave her with anyone else. She’s my little shadow, and I really wouldn’t have it any other way.
“OW drama” – The ‘other woman’ drama is the cat. Maya the cat came first, and they had to not want to murder each other if I was going to bring in Honey. Luckily they decided very quickly to live and let live, and basically ignore each other. Over the years they’re become reluctant housemates, but still mostly keep to themselves. Really, the cat is in charge and the dog learned very early on not to get on her bad side.
“All the cute nicknames” – As with any pet, I hardly ever call Honey by her actual name. She’s ‘pupcake,’ ‘honey bunch,’ and ‘smush face,’ to name a few.
