In continuing with this week’s unintentional theme, I thought today would be a good time to take note of the fact that, as I mentioned, I have not always read so many books in a single year. Since 2019, when I started joining Goodreads challenges (I did in 2014 too, but only read 3 books that year and also did not meet my challenge), only in the last couple of years have I met my goals. And the goal in 2021 was much more modest than last year and this year.
So, progress. Even if my goals were 1 book a month, that would be amazing and admirable. Any reading is great! Reading graphic novels, novellas, epics, or short stories… all of it is reading. Audiobooks are reading. No matter how you take in the written word, you are reading. Kinda like no matter how fast you run if you run, you are a runner.
I also know that I am a rarity in A) reading so much. B) Reading relatively fast. C) Having the time and ability to read when I want to. All of those things make a difference in straight-up numbers. But even in the years when I was lucky to read 3 books, I was still a reader.
Do you consider yourself a reader? Do you read a lot, or just occasionally? Any recent favorite books? My most recent 5-star read was the Lola and the Millionaires duet.
