Books and Cozy Chaos

A Pack for a Beta

I am late to the game on this duet, but it is so good. It is an Omegaverse, why choose, spicy romance with so much damn heart. I mean, I know Kathryn Moon can write spicy why choose with a story and strong women (The Lady of Rooksgrave Manor is a great example), but this was so much more than I was expecting it to be.

OK, this review is for both books in the Lola and the Millionaires duo because there is no separating them for me. This is an entire story and I have to think about it as a whole rather than in parts.

Lola and her (eventual) pack are the best version of Omegaverse that I have read. I love that the books were centered on Lola, a Beta. They did not diminish her desires and needs and let her have an emotional journey that was not rushed (for an Omegaverse), that was whole and rich, and did not shy away from the dark, rough bits.

I love that all of the guys had time, and were allowed their own opportunities to evolve and come together with Lola. They all offered her what they could, and respected her boundaries firmly. They recognized when they were out of control, and also let Lola take the lead when she needed to know that she could.

Even the doubts and hesitations that are often part of this type of story were well-founded and given full weight in the story. There was no rush to “fix” things, Lola was allowed her fear and uncertainty and independence. I devoured these books in a single night, and could not stop reading. There was humor, character, love, solid communication, and time for each relationship between Lola and the pack to develop on its’ own timeline. Even the side plots about the magazine and Indy were well-done and not overwrought. I am in love with this whole group so much. This is now the standard that I will judge all other Omegaverse books. Hell, books in general, because it takes care to slowly develop a story that could have easily gone off the rails and become melodrama.
