Books and Cozy Chaos

Tale as Old as Time

Like any reader, I have a TBR list. A Looooooooooong TBR list. That just keeps getting added to. Because I have a problem and I am not afraid to admit it. Although I am a little surprised as to my ebook TBR numbers, to be honest. I blame the fact that I troll the Kindle bookstore for freebie deals all the damn time. And manage to find a new one each time. And download it each time. That adds up fast.

For a time, I truly thought, “I’ll finish what I have before I get a new one.” That didn’t last long at all. I’ve seen memes comparing the compulsion to buy new books to going out to eat despite having food at home. It’s true, and completely feel that meme to my core.

I guess it is a little bit like prepping for a disaster. You need a safety blanket just in case. Or with books, extra to fill the mood of the moment. I need options. And this absolutely does not take into account the fact that I pay for Kindle Unlimited and have the Libby library app to check out library books too. And Audible. I am not lacking in reading material in any form. And yet, I hoard more and new books like a dragon. Especially now that I really don’t watch TV or streaming as much as I used to. I come home and read. I wake up and read. I fill time in between work and projects with reading. I have access to libraries of books on my phone, so I am never without reading material. It’s an addiction, I admit. But there are worse things to be addicted to.
