I’m not really sure why I am here. I’ve tried this whole writing online thing before (many times), and they have all ended up in the deleted files abyss of the internet.

Maybe I have commitment issues?

But I do have things to say. I think in the past I tried to make my blogs cover every possible topic under the sun. Easily distracted by shiny objects could be one of my mottos. That, and always ready for a nap and coffee.

This time around, for however long it lasts, I’m going to focus what I write here on the topic of education. Which is actually a broad topic. Right now I’m specifically involved in science education at the higher ed level, but there are a lot of things that can fit under this rather large umbrella of a word.

So, that’s that.

As for me, I’m your average person who has always been interested in biology, went to school for FOREVER to get a graduate degree, and am now teaching. Which I have found is my thing. I enjoy it, and even the less-than-fun parts don’t take away from the good days and the dawning look of understanding that I can sometimes get from a student. Those fleeting moments make everything worth it.
